Photonics already plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of almost every major disease – from optical diagnostics to endoscopy and minimally invasive intervention. These and other photonics-based technologies enable us to treat conditions that would have been untreatable two decades ago or for which the treatment had only a small chance of success.
