My research is dedicated towards the development of imaging solutions for medical problems. The research vision is two folds; technology driven and need driven. On the one hand we focus on the application by determining and understanding imaging contrast, and thereby developing imaging algorithm as well as the needed devices (catheter) and system (control and communication of devices and display) to test on realistic conditions. On the other hand, we focus on methods for multi-scale imaging solutions (microscopic-macroscopic), and miniaturization and integration of multi-purpose devices. With extending our knowledge in fundamental science/physics of wave and light-tissue interaction phenomena we can develop better models for current medical challenges and thus better treatment, diagnostic and management tools for the medical field. To pursue my vision, I have recently (November 2020) joined the micro optics and optomechatronics section of the precision and microsystems engineering department at TU Delft, while maintaining a strong collaboration with the biomedical engineering group at Erasmus MC Rotterdam.
