We visited the Arizona Photonics Days in Tucson in January, to represent the Dutch optical organizations, and establish contact with candidate partners from Arizona, Germany, and Canada. Themes of the presentations were: Sensing & Metrology, Laser Technology, Astronomy (see e.g. The Mirror Lab https://mirrorlab.arizona.edu/ ), and Biomedical Optics. From Tucson we flew to San Francisco for SPIE Photonics West 2020, one of the world’s largest tradeshows and conference on optics and photonics, where DOC had a booth at the Netherlands Pavilion (see attached photo), resulting in interesting contacts with people and organizations from all over the world.
For the Photonics West 2021 we have planned to involve more optical companies from the Netherlands, including startups; if you are interested in joining, or if you would like to present your products to the world in any other way at Photonics West, please let us know (bart.snijders@tno.nl). The presence of companies from the Netherlands at Photonics West has lead to contacts, leads and projects with a range of international partners, from large US based companies (like Google and Boeing) to European startups.
